My favorite movies:

Apocalypse Now
Aguirre, The Wrath of God
Godfather I & II

Centipede Press has been doing this for a while. I got this in an e-mail a couple of days ago. Our good friend. H.O.M. !

Here is Harry O. Morris’s list of favorite movies!

1. Eraserhead
2. The Tenant
3. Suspiria
4. Daughter of Horror trilogy
5. The Head
6. A Bucket of Blood
7. The Man Who Could Cheat Death
8. Pandor and the Flying Dutchman
9. The Brainiac
10. Black Sunday (Barbara Steele)
11. Mesa of Lost Women

Re: Favorite Movies

Good idea, bendk.

I'm going try to limit my list to one film per director, but we'll see how that goes. Also, I'm sure some glaring omissions will become apparent to me later, so I'll be sure to update as necessary.

In no particular order other than how they come to mind:

It's Such a Beautiful Day - Don Hertzfeldt
Alien - Ridley Scott
Alien 3 (Assembly Cut) - David Fincher
Lunacy - Jan Švankmajer
Re-Animator - Stuart Gordon
Antichrist or Dancer in the Dark - Lars von Trier
Videodrome - David Cronenberg
Eraserhead or The Elephant Man - David Lynch
The Beyond or The House by the Cemetery - Lucio Fulci
There Will Be Blood - Paul Anderson
Requiem for a Dream - Darren Aronofsky
Reservoir Dogs - Quentin Tarantino
Monty Python's The Meaning of Life - Terry Gilliam
The Theatre Bizarre - Various
Happiness - Todd Solondz
Lightning Bug - Robert Hall
The Funhouse - Tobe Hooper
Mystery Science Theater: The Movie - Jim Mallon
V/H/S - Various
The Evil Dead - Sam Raimi
Invasion of the Body Snatchers - Philip Kaufman
Charade - Stanley Donen
El Orfanato - J. A. Bayona
The Legend of Hell House - John Hough
House of Usher - Roger Corman

...and I'm drawing a blank.

I can't help but wonder what YellowJester's list might look like.

Re: Favorite Movies

I always seem to name the same films, but anyway:

Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters
Freaks (Tod Browning)
Ghost World
Withnail and I
Farewell My Concubine
Heavenly Creatures
Invasion of the Bodysnatchers (seventies version)
Parents (dir. Bob Balaban)

No doubt there are others, but I can't think of them without straining at the moment. (I was pretty impressed with The Seventh Seal, for instance.)

I re watched it recently (it was listed in the prayer for ninety cat's story - ha - I always think a thousand and have to check ) and although it is not my favourite it certainly felt natural and unflinchingly real

the knight - to a condemned witch says he seeks the devil or death - she replies with the instruction to look in her eyes

from the script -

KNIGHT I see fear in your eyes, an empty, numb fear. But nothing else.

He falls silent. The soldiers work at the stakes; their hammering echoes in the forest.
