What Are You Doing For The Solar Eclipse?

I plan on gathering up my three cats and watching from my back deck, whether they like it or not. I want to see how they react. Non-human animals' reactions are more honest and more interesting.

I've heard that people are being advised to keep their pets indoors so they don't damage their sight.

I plan on viewing it with a homemade pinhole camera.

Thanks for the tip. I hadn't heard that. I will bring them out for a couple of minutes at peak eclipse around 2:30 for Ohio.

I bet ophthalmologists are salivating.

Re: What Are You Doing For The Solar Eclipse?

I'll use a small basin to view the eclipse. I made a pinhole camera but I think a basin will work better.

"Tell me how you want to die, and I'll tell you who you are. In other words, how do you fill out an empty life? With women, books, or worldly ambitions? No matter what you do, the starting point is boredom, and the end self-destruction. The emblem of our fate: the sky teeming with worms. Baudelaire taught me that life is the ecstasy of worms in the sun, and happiness the dance of worms."

Re: What Are You Doing For The Solar Eclipse?

The sun is supposed to be 99% eclipsed where I live, here in [redacted], [redacted], but the weather forecast says mostly cloudy. I do have eclipse glasses, and I'll check to see if there are breaks in the clouds.

I've already listened to Pink Floyd's "Eclipse" for the first time in years. I guess I could do that again.

In a perfect world, I'd be out in the fields with my welders helmet, a borrowed Rooster and necessary fortifications. But they say storms are moving in at 2.

View with extreme caution. As a sage once said, "Don't stand too close."

Re: What Are You Doing For The Solar Eclipse?

Too funny. We're supposed to be at near 100% as well, but we have our trusty eclipse glasses. Another easy solution is to simply not look at the sun and just observe your surroundings.

Weather may spoil the whole thing anyway.

Put your faith in God; he won't expect you.
Put your faith in death, because it's free.
If you believe in nothing, honey, it believes in you.

Re: What Are You Doing For The Solar Eclipse?

It begins 1 hr ago. In the end I resort to the paper pinhole method.

My 3 year old shadow and I will certainly be outside at 2:29 (in southern Ohio), if only to momentarily saturate in the dark day.
