Cthulhu was sent back to his sunken city at Rlyeh, Yog Sothoth can be invoked through magic to force him to do things. Nyarlathotep appears often as a human and seems chaotic but not so alien and destructive. Mother Hydra and Father Dagon are just ancient, overgrown deep ones. Deep ones are people, just aquatic, ugly people.
The most destructive, chaotic, dangerous and therefore formidable mythos being is Azathoth. It has no mind to reason with and may lash out for no reason at all. The outer gods bow before it. And if it's another name for Nethescurial, as the poll would suggest, it is present in everyone and everything. It is the the slow corruption that is found in all things. Clearly Azathoth/Nethescurial wins this contest.

Re: The Most Formidable Mythos Deity
I'm the only one who voted for Nyarlathotep? That's bleedin' unspeakable, not to mention nameless...
This poll makes me want to behold a Mythos deity -- & ye finest such representation, in my eyes, is from ye silent film, The Call of Cthulhu -- & if I never return againe, ye shall know my senses have been sizzl'd unto ye depths of depravity..............

I only found out about these creatures when I played the board game Arkham Horror.

She gets my vote as well. Everyone should thank the Black Goat of the Woods for spawning that band. Les morts vont vite is a must-have.
