I assume Timothy d'Arch Smith is also on your list? At one point David was planing to write a new biography of the Count.
Timothy d'Arch Smith is definitely on my list.

I'm also trying to find a local historian in Estonia, someone who is familiar with ES and on the Stenbock family.

Count Stenbock’s Collected Works

I often get asked about the status of the Coptic Cat edition of Count Stenbock’s Collected Works. Work continues on this volume, which will be edited by myself and Lisa Emma Pizzighella. Work will continue in January 2011 on it, and we hope it will be published in the Autumn of 2011. We have both been going through the material already assembled, and it will be a great testament to the hallucinatory work of this remarkable and beautiful man.

Oh finally, how wonderful! Although knowing the way David Tibet works, I wouldn't be surprised to actually be waiting until 2012 or 2013 before this volume actually materializes!

Count Stenbock research in Firenze

Before attending the Pitti Fashion Show for rehearsals and performance, I spent two days in the Florentine Stenbock archives with Lisa Emma Pizzighella, my co-editor in Coptic Cat’s forthcoming volume, The Collected Works of Count Stenbock. A great amount of work was done; we now have all this fascinating material collated and typed and so we can begin assembling the book. I am very grateful to Ms Pizzighella for taking time from finishing her PhD to help me with the Stenbock project—an author, and a work, very dear to me. Her expertise in German and French and her extensive knowledge of 19th century decadent literature, classical mythology and hermeticism have proved invaluable to me in the research for this project. There were a couple of particularly exciting items that I had not seen at my last attendance at the archives (which was some years ago) as they have only been recently discovered; these will also be published in the book.

Our present thoughts as to the publication of the book are that there will be two editions. One will be a hardback containing all of Stenbock’s texts—both prose and poetry—as well as all of the letters by him which I have been able to find, all the photos I have collected and many facsimiles of holograph manuscripts, typescripts annotated by Stenbock, letters and other ephemera, including a list, compiled by Stenbock, of his favourite writers, musicians, artists, colours and flowers. The other edition will be in paperback, and contain all the texts and letters, but probably none of the facsimiles, and not all of the photos. So Stenbock’s actual texts in both editions will be the same, but the paperback version is unlikely to have the extra photographic material within it. I want to make sure that people can access the text—the most important part—without having to buy what will be a quite luxurious, and hence expensive, hardback. Going back to the archives confirmed for me, again, just how much I love Stenbock and his work; I was incredibly moved just looking at the material again.

Re: Count Stenbock

mmmmmmm I'm still waiting for the Current 93 lyric book that I pre-ordered in 2004.I have never read any Stenbock but have heard such good things said about his writing. Are there any websites which have examples of his writing?

Re: Count Stenbock

The website Munseys has two of Stenbock's stories up for free download. One of these, "The True Story of a Vampire," has been widely anthologised and is really quite excellent.

There are quite a few other things on this site worth checking out, including most of Sarban's work - all for free.

Re: Count Stenbock

I can't wait for an edition of The Collected Works of Count Stenbock - I remember reading about this as "forthcoming" from GSP way back in a 1995 All Hallows jounal (#8 maybe.. I forget). It'll be well worth the wait as a serious curiosity if nothing else. I'm as much interested in the man himself as in any of his work and as both are sometime inseperable I'm very excited by this news. Must get the limited h/c with all the added photos, etc.. !

@ DarknessdoubleThanks for the link to the Munsey's website. There are quite a few writers who I've heard about but never had the chance to read so this website is great.

Re: Count Stenbock

Some wonderful news, Stenbock aficionados! I just noticed this on Coptic Cat/David Tibet's website, posted on Wednesday, December 21, 2011:

"Count Stenbock website

A basic holding page has been set up at Count Stenbock | Home for details on Coptic Cat’s forthcoming edition of THE COLLECTED WORKS OF COUNT STENBOCK. Updates on our work on Count Stenbock will appear on both Coptic Cat and the Count Stenbock website."

I'm so elated that Tibet's research has finally come to fruition. This volume is going to be absolutely wonderful, I'm certain. I've been waiting for its arrival since I first discovered the Count a year and a half ago. Wonderful!
