Does anyone know what's happened to the once-manic forum poster G.S. Carnivals? Looks like he hasn't been active since last year.

When I joined this forum many years ago Phil was the first member to make me feel welcome. He encouraged me to share my thoughts, and soon I found that I had a permanent home in this unlikely corner of the world. His deep knowledge of Ligotti was inspiring, and his enthusiasm for those marvelous stories was infectious--if not a little mad. Many newer members may not realise that the civilised atmosphere of TLO was established and maintained by Phil, under his vigilant watch. There were certain things he would not tolerate: hostile, belligerent behaviour, unwarranted profanity, and poor taste in general. I hope the standards set by Phil's example continue long into the future. But most of all it was his wicked sense of humour that I will miss: his love of kooky word-play, in particular. (Let us never forget his innovative--possibly drunken--use of emoticons. In a private message to me Phil once referred to the following as "A Triple Eek with Innsmouth Look": , and !) Phil was the wise court jester who kept order in this little town, and I will miss him. Now my cat would like to say a few words...

Like many of you, I have also been very worried something might have happened to Phil and was searching the internet for his presence over the last years and I am terribly saddened to discover the news. RIP, Phil and Spot.
GSC was one of the friendliest and most warm-hearted spirits I've ever come across on the internet. We have participated in numerous chat sessions that were organized on the boards in the past - I've always admired his sense of humour and rich knowledge of works by Tom and of the genre in general, which he was always open to share. Back in 2005 (2006?) Phil sent me as a gift 3 items: Dark Gods and The Ceremonies by T.E.D Klein and the first version of Crampton that he printed from TLO in 2000.


I will miss him greatly!

Seriously? If so, then I was fooled all along. As I recall, there were some non-doggy biographical details about SBF2 - such as, he moved to Mississippi and became a fry cook. I suppose that may have been GSC's goofy sense of humor (it does seem funny now that I think about it).

So - Phil's post count is nearly twice what it appears to be???!!!

Am I the only one who didn't know this?
