"Frontier Death Song" by Laird Barron, read it online free!

The good people at Nightmare Magazine put up a new Laird Barron short story the other day. "Frontier Death Song" is a great read, 10,000 words of rip-roaring action and devilish mysticism, plus a hat-tip or two towards his contemporaries and influences. In fact, there seems to be a good chunk of Mr. Barron's own life in this story, more so than usual. Very recommended!

Nightmare Magazine is new to me, and looks quite intriguing. They have also posted stories by Genevieve Valentine and John Maberry, and tomorrow should see a story by Sarah Langan as well as an interview with Peter Straub by John Langan, so wow. A new venture, and one that I will be intently watching and reading.

Re: "Frontier Death Song" by Laird Barron, read it online free!

I agree -- this story's well worth reading, especially for free. Definitely one of Barron's more interesting pieces, as it does have more of a "drawn from life" feeling than usual.

Nightmare Magazine seems to be worthy of the subscription price.
