Here is Nacho Vigalondo's short film 7:35 de la Manana. It's one of the strangest, most surprising examples of a short film I have ever seen. It perfectly uses the form, and manages to walk that thin line between really funny and really creepy.

Do you mean you don't usually watch animated shorts? ;) I don't usually myself, but I just discovered House of Flame myself, last weekend, and was completely mesmerised by it; so many beautiful and eerie moments. In fact, I convinced my boyfriend that it was a good idea to order a DVD of Kawamoto's short films on account of it, but I haven't had a chance to watch it yet.
