Notebook of the Night (German audiobook)

Has anyone else already seen this? I've been looking out for the audiobook for quite a while now....

http://www.mgverlag.de/html/cd.html

(Dictated while taking a stroll) I have come to realizewhat a superbly contrived marionette man is. Though without strings attached, one can strut, jump, hop and, moreover, utter words, an elaborately made puppet! Who knows? At the Bon season next year, I may be a new dead invited to the Bon festival. What an evanescent world! This truth keeps slipping off our minds.

Re: Notebook of the Night (German audiobook)

Hmmm ... Nope, sorry. Judging by the price I'd think it will never hit the stores [it IS really cheap for an audiobook]. It's probably only available via the publisher or Amazon ...
Looks interesting, but I miss hints as to who translated the stories and who is reading the stories - I'm not really into buying audiobooks, sorry

Re: Notebook of the Night (German audiobook)

Must have been produced by Eddie Angerhuber. I see there's an audio book of her Nocturnal Products below the Ligotti CD. Too bad I don't know German.

Re: Notebook of the Night (German audiobook)

This CD was indeed produced by Eddie Angerhuber, in collaboration with her close friend Thomas Wagner, as a kind of adjunct to his long-running industrial/techno/gothic musical project named das pst.

I received a copy directly from Eddie some years ago. It has a very effective sound and mood. Think ambient-industrial goth. I just wish I could understand German.

You may find THIS LINK for "das pst" helpful, it contains some lyrics as well.
If any of the posted links/songs is in German, you're welcome to contact me - I could try to translate them ...

Re: Notebook of the Night (German audiobook)

i called the publisher (Bärenklau Verlag) earlier on the phone; he told me that he has around 20 copies left (and they have been translated by Eddie) and he also speaks English; here's his email address:

Re: Notebook of the Night (German audiobook)

The following is a short text that appeared with Ligotti's permission in an interview with Eddie M. Angerhuber and her partner Thomas Wagner, "Das Dunkle Gespräch: Uwe Voehl im Gespräch mit Eddie M. Angerhuber und Thomas Wagner":

Quote
"Even though I don't know German, I love the sound of the German language...and Thomas's and Eddie's readings of my little stories is thoroughly engaging to my ears. When I listen to Eddie's reading, I have some idea of how Lou Reed must have felt to have the rich and dark voice of Nico singing 'Femme Fatale' and, especially, 'All Tomorrows Parties.' Musically, I think that Thomas's compositions for this CD stand on their own: they are beautifully somber and subtly sinister. They are real music, as opposed to merely sampled loops or sick drones, and have a true musical interest that complements rather then simply supports the readings. I can't fully express my appreciation for the work that Thomas and Eddie have obviously put into this project."
The whole interview, which is in German except for the words by Ligotti, was printed in Arcana no. 1 (Lindenstruth Verlag, November 2002), the German magazine of classic and modern speculative fiction.
I am posting this here, as most probably this text was so far accessible mainly to German-speaking readers of the magazine in question.

Re: Notebook of the Night (German audiobook)

I actually ordered this when it came out many years ago, but I never received it. It may not have been the vendor's fault. My neighbors used steal my mail sometimes. Rough apartment complex. Most were ex-felons. I was also burglarized three or four times.

You can buy it at Audible.com or just listen to a sample. Eddie's voice is beautifully creepy.
