Re: Great Horror Cover Art

Thank you for quoting my blog entry on Strobl and his Lemuria in full that I posted some time ago at my blogsite The Black Sun. In order to complete your quotation, here's the source of my entry: the black sun: At the dark heart of Lemuria, 1917

Brilliant! My current James book is getting a bit ragged so I shall go for the new Pleasing Terror the second it becomes avaible. I just hope they can get All Hallows up and running again too.

Re: Great Horror Cover Art

I was hoping to reveal the name of the artist who produced this cover. Disappointingly, the back cover says only this of the artwork:

Cover design by Ink Studios

Re: Great Horror Cover Art

A little work with google shows that Ink Studios was founded by one Alan Aldridge, best known for his poster for "Chelsea Girls" and the book "The Butterfly Ball". I haven't managed to attribute this image to him definitively, but it seems to fit.

Thank you for that! I tried looking on Google but came up with nothing useful -- which may just show that I'm not very good at using Google.

Alan Aldridge also edited The Beatles Illustrated Lyrics, and did quite a lot of the artwork for it. In the realm of horror, I used to have an edition of The House on the Borderland with an Alan Aldridge cover. It was issued by Panther Books in the late 60s or very early 70s.

I'll try to find the The House on the Borderland cover with Google, but am not very optimistic.

It didn't come up in the first 30 pages of Alan Aldridge images.

Re: Great Horror Cover Art

Google is often most efficient with the artful use of inverted commas around one or more discrete phrases - all in one go.

Re: Great Horror Cover Art

Is this the cover?

I input "alan aldridge" and "house on the borderland" in one go for that.while keeping the inverted commas.

Yes it is!

I think that I tried doing exactly the same thing, but it didn't work for me.

Google hates me.
