The mention of trees prompted me to do a quick search on Unilever's use of palm oil. This is a fairly recent article on the subject at the top of my Google results (which Google's spying will have customised in one way or another, so that it might differ to that at the top of others' results, of course):

This company is really smart: they own Calvin Klein which imposes a ideal of beauty on people, they produce diet food which people need to look like Calvin Klein models and they produce ice cream to make sure they never get there... and of course they have this campaign to make sure there are enough dissatisfied people around to buy their stuff in the future.
