'Noctuary' as the start of the next Ligotti Penguin Classics book?

Re: 'Noctuary' as the start of the next Ligotti Penguin Classics book?
Noctuary is, at the moment, my favorite work of Ligotti's. I just finished rereading "Mad Night of Atonement," which seems like the perfect summation of his unique vision as a whole. While I really enjoyed the dark humor behind most of his stories in Teatro Grottesco, I prefer the more melancholy pieces in Noctuary.
The prose poems at the end are some of the best things I've ever read.

Have to admit that I originally missed the question mark and thought great, Noctuary is the only one of the big four that I don't have. And then I saw the question mark and realized that it wasn't happening. By chance hours later, I happened upon a $4.50 copy of said book in a wrongly placed stack of books. Thank you for your part in aligning the stars and making this happen.

Re: 'Noctuary' as the start of the next Ligotti Penguin Classics book?
I love Noctuary, particularly the prose poems Mr. Veech mentioned. Except for the massive exception of Wilum Pugmire there really isn't any work I've been extremely impressed with regarding prose poetry. I've very much appreciated Hippocampus Press for Spectral Realms as that always has some gems in there. The prose poems in Noctuary are what I remember most and make my case that Ligotti is underrated as a poet. I Have a Special Plan for This World and This Degenerate Little Town may be the best pieces of long poetry in the Weird Tradition and I'm putting that up against heavy hitters like The Hashish Eater and Fungi From Yuggoth.

Re: 'Noctuary' as the start of the next Ligotti Penguin Classics book?
"A Poesque gem about inconsequence fighting inconsequence in a claustrophobic world? Or a battle with much higher stakes by forces yet to emerge? He who wrote this and he who wrote what is being written about?"
"Poesque" is an apt description of "The Prodigy of Dreams." The ending was lost to me the first time I read it. I didn't realize Arthur Emerson was murdered by Graff, the groundskeeper, with a "metal gardening implement with four claw-like prongs" until after a second reading.
"In a less scientific age, he would have been a devil-worshipper, a partaker in the abominations of the Black Mass; or would have given himself to the study and practice of sorcery. His was a religious soul that had failed to find good in the scheme of things; and lacking it, was impelled to make of evil itself an object of secret reverence."
