Anybody else mess around with models or miniatures of ruins or decayed structures and landscapes that attempt to evoke what you see in your mind concerning a "town near the northern border"? (It is HO-scale (1:87) for those who might care about such things.)

I could not agree more. And Mongoose, those pieces are brilliant. I too am irresistibly drawn to ruins. I feel much more at home there than any other place. Stepping among them has the odd effect of transporting my mind from the mundane to the sublime. Quite invigorating!
