Markitty must be saved from the curse of the fedorah – lest he be mistaken for an alt-right YouTube vlogger.

The Alt.Right (or at least Vox Day) famously do not like the fedorah (or the trilby for that matter).

Re: A Pilgrim Stranger

I was referring to Davis Aurini.

I only have White Hands and Machen. How are Mark's other books?

Glypotech is another good collection - the stories have a more concrete, visceral Cronenberg/Ballard feel to them, with a heavy thematic focus on consumerism and the cult of celebrity. The key Samuels themes - the dreaming dead, language as a virus and Kafkaesque bureaucratic absurdity - are all present.

For a generally insightful take on Written in Darkness it's worth checking out this review.

General consensus is that hats as a whole are too chivalrous and suggest willingness to countenance principled defeat and/or a low ranking on the Libertarian-American-Pickup-Artist scale. Exceptions might be baseball caps with Trump/Milo quotes or racists slogans on.

Re: A Pilgrim Stranger

I have a panama hat. I read in the Daily Telegraph that it is not quite the thing because it makes one look "like a failed writer living in Morocco". I thought, actually, I wouldn't mind looking like that at all...

I also thought "failed writer" - you mean there's another sort?

They were probably confusing Paul Bowles with Indiana Jones.

An update from the author -
A Pilgrim Stranger update | Mark Samuels

I, too, thought my own novel Nemonymous Night in 2011 would "endure as a literary work" however well or badly it sold.

Re: A Pilgrim Stranger

I find it amusing that Mark is choosing to self-publish it despite the fact that a publisher apparently made him an offer, as in most cases with self-publishing it's usually a last-ditch resort on the part of the writer. In any event, looking forward to it greatly.

I look forward to it, too. I shall buy and review it.
It will be pure Radio Mark without the static of a faulty transmitter?
