The Calamari Wrestler
has anyone of you seen this film? It looks quite interesting

(Dictated while taking a stroll) I have come to realizewhat a superbly contrived marionette man is. Though without strings attached, one can strut, jump, hop and, moreover, utter words, an elaborately made puppet! Who knows? At the Bon season next year, I may be a new dead invited to the Bon festival. What an evanescent world! This truth keeps slipping off our minds.

Haven't seen it yet, but people are always asking if that was me. No. Wrestling is for queers. I'll stand up and entertain you guys, but I'm not gonna roll around on the floor with ya!

Re: The Calamari Wrestler
Wrestling is obviously faked, even in Japan. The only sincere performance is that of our tentacled friend from the briny deep. I can now say that I've savored one deep-fried slice from the sampler platter. I'll pass on the Calamari Meal Deal, however, even though it comes with coleslaw, hushpuppies, fries, and an all-U-can-drink beverage of choice. But it is Lent, and I'm weary of tuna... | |||||||||||

Tibet: Carnivals? Ligotti: Ceremonies for initiating children into the cult of the sinister. Tibet: Gas stations? Ligotti: Nothing to say about gas stations as such, although I've always responded to the smell of gasoline as if it were a kind of perfume. |
