Hippocampus Press

I am currently reviewing Rhys Hughes' BONE IDLE IN THE CHARNEL HOUSE, and the title story, for me, is an all-time classic original but Ligottian-like horror story with an edge of irony.

Re: Hippocampus Press

I really like Hippocampus. You guys should read Joshi's first blog post of this year if you haven't already, there's a lot of interesting stuff coming up.

Re: Hippocampus Press

They remain one of my favourite publishers. S. T.'s momentous three volume H. P. LOVECRAFT'S COLLECTED FICTION: A VARIORUM EDITION was hopefully to be publish'd this month, but Derrick is wanting the text to be perfectly free of errors and has delay'd publication date to late March/early April. Tom's book has proved their best selling item ever. My next book from them will include the revised/expanded edition of "Some Unknown Gulf of Night," a work of prose-poetry that is now up to 40,000 words, in which I wrote a "prose response" to each of Lovecraft's sonnets in FUNGI FROM YUGGOTH; & I am utterly delighted that they have decided to follow my piece with a reprinting of HPL's sonnets, so that readers may then compare the original poem with my prose response. I've asked that ye book be released in August, to coincide with NecronomiCon 2015.

That's a little disappointing. I figured my copy of the Variorum would be showing up in the next couple of weeks. In any case, I'm sure it will be well worth the wait.

That's very good to hear. The general standard of proofreading these days is poor and, sadly, even Hippocampus Press has been slipping recently in that regard. I'm really looking forward to the Variorum and it would be cruelly ironic if it introduced new textual variations!

Re: Hippocampus Press

I JUST GOT MINE!!!! This is truly for the Lovecraftian with OCD, which means they created a 3 volume Lovecraft set exclusively for me.

Re: Hippocampus Press

Not long ago I got about $400 of royalties in me PayPal, and I swear that I have spent half of it on new Hippocampus titles. S. T. forgot that he was going to give me a set of ye Variorum and has placed his extra sets and so I went ahead and order'd from Derrick, and it will hopefully be here early next week. I quiver at ye thought of holding those finish'd printed volumes. It's strange to still feel, after so many decades, this intense Lovecraftian fever. I know that I will feel a sense of utter enchantment as I begin to read that first volume of E'ch-Pi-El's early tales. And then the alchemy will so suffuse my brain that I will hopefully feel that ache of inspiration that makes writing my own Lovecraftian weird fiction a necessity. Gawd, I was I could have an enlarged print-out of that jacket for Volume 3 on good thick stock to hang as pofter on me wall. I love this press, and am so pleas'd to have had ye chance to work with yem (Derrick and S. T.) on three of my own books. Eventually, they will publish ye fabulous edition of David E. Schultz's THE ANNOTATED FUNGI FROM YUGGOTH--a book that I am intensely excited about.

Re: Hippocampus Press

Hippocampus Press seems to have the 3 Volume Varioum H P Lovecraft edition on sale for $99 (normally $180). Might be a good time to snatch it up. I paid for it when it first came out. Was worth every penny but I'm a massive HPL fan.

The 3 volumes of the HPL Variorum Edition are on sale for $99 yet again. Joshi's Lovecraft and a World in Transition is almost 50% off and The Complete Poetry of George Sterling [3 vols] is 75% off.

No update regarding Cardin's To Rouse Leviathan. Matt, is this still happening?

Re: Hippocampus Press

All 3 of those are absolutely, 100% worth it. I swear Hippocampus gives me no reimbursement for this. Like Wilum, it tends to go the opposite direction, I tend to give them a chunk of my money.

And I was wondering the same thing too about To Rouse Leviathan.
