Has Anyone Played the P.T. Demo on PSN?

It's evocative and tense without being overly specific, and the gamespace consists of a declivity of stairs leading downward to the same claustrophobic system of hallways and rooms, so that the direction of the player is one of a perpetual cascade -- a shepard tone of steps like a running wheel or conveyor belt -- tilted toward either the same spirit-clotted cage or a succession of identical lower levels.

Rather like SH4 with the unnecessary plot points erased and therefore closer in purity to the leprous determinism of dreams.

To descend the stairs of the chromatic scale continually is to depart from the comfort of The Root, just as climbing that same staircase moves you toward it (each kind of root movement implies a specific direction). In that sense, the P.T. demo conjures the nausea of landing a helicopter, or the floating sensation you feel watching the opening of Kubrick's improved version of The Shining, in which the airborne camera floats backward so that the car below it moves in retrograde, tunneling toward its perpetual dislocation.

One Report among Many

Given the millions who have played it already, and the members of these boards who have posted about the larger collaboration between Kojima and del Toro for months, I'd imagine that many of you have spent time with P.T. since August.

And then, of course, there's Alchemilla, a fan-based mod of Half-Life 2 that comprises a complete and non-combat-oriented version of the SH landscape.
It was only released a few weeks ago.

And now, of course, there's Allison Road.
