Re: New SWANS Album Up for Pre Order

I'm enjoying this latest album. So far Bring the Sun is my favourite song but others are growing on me.

Thantifaxath? I know those guys, they're excellent live! Sadly had to miss a show recently but they've got one coming up in Toronto.

Re: New SWANS Album Up for Pre Order

My favorite so far is Kirsten Supine.
Makes me want to watch the movie which it was supposedly based upon (Lars von Trier´s "Melancolia" - although I never liked any of his movies).

About Thantifaxath, I wish I could catch them live...

Re: New SWANS Album Up for Pre Order

Extreme long shot but, are any of you TLOers going to be seeing Swans at Supersonic Festival in Birmingham, UK this month?

The rest of the line-up looks pretty good too: wolf eyes, karen gwyer, pharmakon, matmos, backwards, ex-easter island head....

Supersonic ) Line Up

Re: New SWANS Album Up for Pre Order

I saw Swans play Yonge and Dundas Square (for free!) on Friday. It was a truncated set (only 90 mins) but excellent. St Vincent was incredible as well.

Re: New SWANS Album Up for Pre Order

To Be Kind is, I think, one of Swans' strongest releases to date, but I have not had a chance to listen to it again since shortly after it came out. No doubt my thoughts will be different, but likely no less positive per se.

I seem to only catch the band every other time they make their circuit through the East Coast, but seeing them live is an awe-inspiring experience.

On a related note, St. Vincent has long been a favourite of mine and I was delighted (if very surprised) to see that she had made a contribution to the latest Swans release. I love when strange people cross paths like that. But perhaps the connection should not entirely surprise me given John Congleton's rising status as a producer.
