New Painting Series - 72 Demons of the Ars Goetia

I'm adapting the 72 demons from The Ars Goetia, an ancient text that was used to summon demons. I wouldn't be surprised if H.P Lovecraft used this text as inspiration for the Necronomicon.

Medium and Material - They are all red acrylic paint on black painted backgrounds. The surface is thick double coats of black acrylic paint front and back on hand ripped cardstock paper with deckled painted edges that look almost like torn flesh or as though a flame had been applied, fitting for the imagery.

I've got 12 made so far and plan on painting the rest over the next 2 months. And I'm selling all of these ridicuously cheap, if you're curious or interested there's more details at my blog - www.skeletoncave.blogspot.com

Vapula -

Dantalion -

Bune -

Focalor -

I actually knew a guy named Dantalion (except he spelled it Dantalian...we called him Don). His parents named him after the demon because his dad's mom was a devoutly religious nun whom his father wasn't very fond of.

I thought that was pretty fricken cool. anyway. cool work as always, aeron. you're busy busy busy. good stuff.

Re: New Painting Series - 72 Demons of the Ars Goetia

Put simply: Aeron, they are utterly fabulous in both senses of the word. Demonic/dæmonic, yet so oddly appealing. They remind me of Peter Sis' Tibet: Through the Red Box, only with different subject and approach.

"And into his dreams he fell...and forever."
