Re: Most awesome 15-20 minutes in a television series ever.

When I saw the name of this topic, I clicked through planning to vote for the finale of Twin Peaks. I'm pleased but not too surprised to see what you posted. There have been television series that were better overall (some parts of season 2 of TP fell a bit short) but at its peak, nothing else has ever been close.

(no pun intended)

My Literature and the Grotesque professor just showed this in class not to long ago. Pretty awesome, indeed. I can't imagine why the show got canceled.

Re: Most awesome 15-20 minutes in a television series ever.

I don't think Twin Peaks frustrated audiences because of the weird surreal stuff. I think it frustrated audiences because it posed the central question "Who killed Laura Palmer?" to a mainstream TV audience and got them interested in an answer, then season 2 shifted the show's focus toward other matters before that question was answered.

That's 'Little' Jimmy Scott singing in the first clip. Love that guy.

Re: Most awesome 15-20 minutes in a television series ever.

The reason I love this black-lodge/red-room sequence from Twin Peaks so much is not just because of the wonderful weirdness of it. It also has to do with a deep romanticism. "And I'll see you.. and you'll see me.." as Jimmy Scott sings. And Cooper does indeed see his lost love there . . . in the trees . . . behind the red curtains. Waiting for him..

I recently watched the entire series, for the first time in a long time. It really hasn't lost any of its impact. It is happening... again. It is happening... again.
