Eerie stop motion cartoon, banned from TV.

Stylistically and philosophically, Ligottian like.

Check it out.

Reminds me of something I saw in my garden this morning. And I still refuse to take my medication!

Thanks for posting that. I viewed a much shorter clip a while ago and was intrigued.

Thanks for this, Karnos. It really looks as if someone has stolen TL's ideas and philosophy! Incredible synchronicity!

This was an excerpt from The Adventures of Mark Twain, being based on his story,
The_Mysterious_Stranger The_Mysterious_Stranger
. I changed the YouTube link to a MEDIA embed, which can be double-clicked to leap to the origin page. Strange one, indeed.

Thank you, Karnos. This is a fine example of the art of claymation. It suddenly occurs to me that the figures employed in the medium are nothing more than little golems going through the motions. As Mr. Ligotti wrote, "How like they are to the human race itself! This is what makes them our perfect representatives..."

"Like a dog!" he said; it was as if the shame of it must outlive him. - Franz Kafka, The Trial

I wish there was, but apparently that's all of it. Reading about it, on IMDB, it appears Tim Burton was deeply affected by that clip, back in the day. What’s even more interesting is that fact that the clay characters are creating other crude clay figures, and endowing them with life, just to take it away on a whim.

Something about it reminds me of Arthur Machen’s “The White People”, but I cannot quite put a finger on it… perhaps the clay figures?

Thank you very much for sharing that with us. I end up learning something new whenever I visit this site. I read Twain in the past but not The Mysterious Stranger. It reminds me of a radio play written by Neil Gaiman (I think) for Sci-Fi.com's Seeing Eye Theater.

the heading still fits....

(Dictated while taking a stroll) I have come to realizewhat a superbly contrived marionette man is. Though without strings attached, one can strut, jump, hop and, moreover, utter words, an elaborately made puppet! Who knows? At the Bon season next year, I may be a new dead invited to the Bon festival. What an evanescent world! This truth keeps slipping off our minds.
