Re: Trump

Druidic, I am not sure you are in a position to speak. You said you would back Trump until he "pressed the red button" and even backed down on that statement and have said you would support him starting a nuclear war. So you will defend Trump no matter what he does, as you yourself have stated. No, it wasn't "all sides" who created this situation. It was the racists marching in Charlottesville. Anyone who says anything else at this point is basically no patriot, because they are descending to having Nazis, who we lost hundreds of thousands of soldiers fighting in WWII, as now the new normal.

Re: Trump

Trump's HATRED ON MANY SIDES statement was loathsome. False equivalency to an epic degree.

Yes, some activists on the left have been violent towards white supremacists/Nazis, but the white supremacists/Nazis literally favor racial/ethnic cleansing and despise everyone who doesn't have pale skin. The activists on the left hate... the white supremacists/Nazis.

Even Mike freaking Huckabee called out the white nationalists/Nazis today and put the blame for this weekend's violence squarely on their shoulders. The fact that Trump can't bring himself to do the same is pathetic. But not surprising, considering this crew adore him and chant "Heil Trump" in their rallies and marches. He is a shameful blight on this country.

Re: Trump

I never said I would support a nuclear war, no matter who started it. A nuclear war is madness. Read my posts. My remark about "the red button" was a joke but the Left doesn't seem to have a sense of humor these days.

I'm not blind to the truth or to facts and never let personal feelings get in the way of judgement. Can you say the same?

The counter protesters were the willing match to the alt-right's powder keg. I stand by my solution to this madness.

Not on the same day.

Re: Trump

Trump loves to insult a whole range of people and entities, often those who don't deserve it, but White Supremacists/Nazis and Vladimir Putin have typically gotten an unusually explicit pass from him. The reasons are clear to me.

Re: Trump

Honestly, Doctor, I don't believe in giving the most despicable excesses and fevers of the alt-right a free pass. Quite the opposite. But Putin? Any hope of detente is through that guy and we ought to treat him with the respect that a head of state usually deserves.

But then, according to Brendan, I'm a nuclear warmonger so what do I know?

Re: Trump

Trump threatened nuclear war several times in the past week and you supported his statements. Pretty hard to read it any other way.

Re: Trump

No, I supported the tough talk. Diplomacy has been tried for 25 years without results. Trump's last option was to take a tough stance, something no administration in the past has done, and to hope Kim understood the language.

I think it's a bluff on both sides. We'll see, won't we?

Re: Trump

Tough talk is very dumb if he doesn't plan to back it up. And if he does, it is absolute insanity. So either way, his statements are the height of stupidity. He basically is doing exactly what Kim Jong Un wants.

Re: Trump

Full transparency: Alchemist, I removed a sentence in your post. Promoting violence in any way is not acceptable here.

Last option? He did not even attempt diplomacy beyond a few disparaging Tweets directed at the Chinese that they should solve the problem. His tough stance move was taken without the consult of or notification to his own defense department. In fact they were issued within a few short days after stricter UN sanctions were levied against North Korea with the support of China and Russia.

He said that "fire and fury" would be unleashed if North Korea issued another threat, which it has already. We are not negotiating with NYC to get tax abatements to pay for a building renovation. Trump is out of his element (cheating in business) and this is the type of person that could start a world war (intentionally or through idiotic misadventure).

And what of the stakes just to see the hand played out?
