Re: Your favourite song at the moment..

I just came upon this, and I've never heard Ravel playing his own compositions. It's funny to me how modern pianists argue and bicker over how a piece from the past should or shouldn't be played. Listening to how the actual composer plays a piece it's fascinating to me in how it illuminates the stupidity and pointlessness of human intellectual projection. I guarantee you any modern critic would find all kinds of flaws and inaccuracies with this play-through if they were ignorant of the actual player.

The official reason for this was due to their name, the word "Army" apparently raising some manufactured red flag. The State Department literally stated "they may incite terrorism."
I thought I heard at the time that an excuse floated was that they lacked artistic merit. This bass line should reach the bar alone:

That was the official reason given, though it was widely suspected that it was in retaliation for the track '51st State'.

"In a less scientific age, he would have been a devil-worshipper, a partaker in the abominations of the Black Mass; or would have given himself to the study and practice of sorcery. His was a religious soul that had failed to find good in the scheme of things; and lacking it, was impelled to make of evil itself an object of secret reverence."

~ Clark Ashton Smith, "The Devotee of Evil"
