In Eternity - Two Lines Intersect

What a great tale.
There should be something like a deluxe illustrated chapbook of this together with The Tower, so as to be better able to appreciate them as non-horror, decontextualized as it were.

I've yet to listen to the story, but the title instantly reminded me of Machen's "The Red Hand," namely the conversation between Phillipps and Dyson concerning the latter's "theory of improbability," or the idea that, given adequate time, the improbable will eventually occur:

"Don't you see that two lines which are not parallel are gradually approaching one another, drawing nearer and nearer to a point of meeting, till at last they do meet, and improbability has vanished altogether?"

EDIT: Upon listening to the story (great narration BTW) I immediately thought of Samuels' "The Tower." Both are very similar, though "In Eternity - Two Lines Intersect" is, in my humble opinion, significantly better. I hope the story is representative of the overall quality of Written in Darkness.

Thank you. In my personal estimation, this story is among the best in the collection, though probably not the best, so I would say it's pretty representative.

I chose it firstly because I like it and also because I thought I might be able to convey something appropriate in the way I read it.

The original idea, to read something from Written in Darkness, came from Joe Campbell, who was the sound engineer, and recorded me for this through multiple takes on Friday. He's done the sound for most of the stuff up there at the Chomu Radio Archive.

Very good story. And reading, too. I have noticed that when I read something off paper I end up rushing through some sentences—initially because a story has put forth a very intriguing premise and I can't wait to see how it pans out, but it has turned into a habit, and when I'll re-read a story I'll find something interesting or important that I probably skimmed over the first time around. I'm trying to work on that issue. And this recording, with a more quiet and measured pace, cancelled out that mind-rush effect and allowed me to really appreciate the story. Well done!

Yeah, I didn't realize the benefit of listening to someone else read. It forces you to slow down and take in everything. I feel bad at times because I feel that I usually read too fast, which is really bad given that it takes an extraordinary amount of time for an author to write an excellent piece of fiction. To rush through a story is to do a great disservice to the writer.
