What You Are Approaching

Quote ( View Quotes )
Collapse This

“ The one conclusion that keeps forcing itself upon me is that it makes no difference what choice I make, or do not make. You can never anticipate the Teatro... or anything else. You can never know what you are approaching, or what is approaching you. ”

"What does it mean to be alive except to court disaster and suffering at every moment?"

Tibet: Carnivals?
Ligotti: Ceremonies for initiating children into the cult of the sinister.
Tibet: Gas stations?
Ligotti: Nothing to say about gas stations as such, although I've always responded to the smell of gasoline as if it were a kind of perfume.

"Nobody expects the Teatro Grottesco!"

I suppose the Teatro Grottesco is a little bit like Monty Python's famous 'Spanish Inquisition' skit...except instead of 'the comfy chair' there are the parasitic starfish things... well, and the latter is more 'ha ha' funny, while the former is more 'I am completely alone in a meaningless universe' funny...

A very timely quotation offering, GSC. How appropriate given the approaching distance between when and where without which we have yet to have seen. Teatro Grottesco lies wrapped in stasis of anticipation, transcending sheaves of dead trees and inky edges. This may prove to be the most beautiful of Ligotti publications, and thus worth every moment of delay.

Like "a chance meeting on a dissecting table machine and an umbrella" funny, then?

"And into his dreams he fell...and forever."
