Bruh, Decadence explicitly rebelled against bourgeois sensitivities, and Neo-Decadent literature is anti-capitalist. Definitely not apolitical.
Anti-capitalism is of course commendable, and I intend on buying this volume, but I do worry that by using such deliberately obscure layers of irony in promotion that the movement you kids are starting is itself perhaps, in a way, bourgeois. I think you lot need to get together in a constricting bubble bath, sip red wine and listen to the Spandau Ballet album Through the Barricades while contemplating the next step.

Everyone's background is eminently respectable, if that's what you're implying. Although Quentin S. Crisp's father once said an objectionable word in public and a number of British subjects were scandalized. The objectionable word was "cunntfuuuckthequeenisaman."

Also, if I remember right, at the age of twelve, Daniel Corrick received some kind of certificate certifying that his genes were "ontologically superior" to surrounding genes.

I require full documentation regarding your heraldry before I even begin to accept this.

Decadence is of such fascination to me, in all forms, that I just can't resist, though I regret I am still lacking some seminal reading material with respect to AC Evans book.

I am now starting to accept submissions for it at allen2012@aol.com; I am looking for poetry in the decadent and Neo Decadent tradition and essays on Neo Decadence, so everyone can understand it.

Decadence has no politics. It is a libertinism of the soul and imagination that exceeds the body and mind's capacities. I will not include any essay that is political, or any poem.

But, since I want this first one to be perfect, I want the highest quality poetry anyone can write. I will endorse all publications in the Neo Decadent genre, any book, etc.

At least start writing.

Meh, insisting on apolitical approach won't work in the context od modern weird fiction. You are shooting yourself in teh foot, with a sawed-off.

Anyway, Neo Decadence as it has been defined in those manifestos and in this thread is certainly political, explicitly leftist.

Re: Neo-Decadence

I'll form a journal. Boldly put, I just want to do it.

I don't think that not criticising the status quo is an apolitical stance, though seeing as so much of decadence is about criticising the status quo and social mores it seems off to consider it apolitical in the first place. Neo-decadence should be a ####ing feminist system.

Re: Neo-Decadence

I already have four submissions. And I don't just mean you guys here at TNN--the wider poetry scene actually write decadent poetry and decadent stuff from time to time, if you believe it.

Arda Collins, for instance, is one of the strangest poets I've ever read and she's never written weird fiction. I hope to keep white power out of decadence....feminism should be there, of course.

Re: Neo-Decadence

It is difficult for me to grasp what is decadent nowadays.
Drugs to available to even the most impoverished.
Siblings can exchange fluids and few observers bat an eye.
The modern equivalent of Nero is currently in the White House.
