Re: Writer Nic Pizzolatto on Thomas Ligotti and the Weird Secrets of ‘True Detective’

Dan Woodrell, Nic Pizzolatto, and Frank Bill are probably the best crime writers out there right now. You can see where the noirish, gritty, and genuinely unpleasant nature of Marty and Cohle's word seamlessly intertwine with Ligotti's vision of the world.

The fifth episode blew my mind. This show is getting better and better.

I totally agree.

Re: Writer Nic Pizzolatto on Thomas Ligotti and the Weird Secrets of ‘True Detective’

The King in Yellow is currently the ninth best-selling book at Amazon. Seems the series and the interviews/articles sparked quite a good amount of interest

And though Ligotti's books didn't make the jump into the front page, it seems Amazon has ran out of TCATHR, Teatro Grottesco and even MWINYD. No idea how many copies they had, but it seems Ligotti might be getting some meatier royalties, and that's swell.

Re: Writer Nic Pizzolatto on Thomas Ligotti and the Weird Secrets of ‘True Detective’

As much as I appreciate the King in Yellow angle, what I am enjoying most about the show are it's nods to more Ligottian influences. (It'll be interesting to see io9's harping on the KiY to be all for naught if the show doesn't payoff on it significantly.)
