Difficult, difficult... I voted for Disintegration, but to me Faith and Pornography are as good.

I voted for Pornography but could have easily voted for Faith or Seventeen Seconds.

Re: What's Your Favorite Album By The Cure (So Far)?

One of my all-time favorite bands which I was fortunate enough to discover for myself in the early eighties. My vote went to Pornography as it speaks deepest to me and the run of three from Seventeen Seconds, The Faith and Pornography is the highlight of my endearment. The Head on the Door is to me Robert's best "pop" album. Having said that, half of The Top is the top and Disintegration is quite a solid effort. For me everything seemed to get progressively diluted from Wish onwards. Robert is so good at his craft that he can practically meander on the guitar while mumbling a few distraught syllables and get away with yet another album. At least that is where my suspicions lie. I do wish he would give up the smeared lipstick, which is quite tedious to me at this point in his career.

The Cure is without a doubt one of my everlasting favorites as well, though I didn't have the privilege of discovering them until significantly later in their career, though I myself was still quite young--if that hints at all to my relatively "youthful" age. Anyway, I wish I could say that I had difficulty choosing between Pornography (easily my second favorite of their catalog) and Bloodflowers, but for me the latter album holds such an immense degree of sentimental baggage that it would be impossible for me to choose otherwise--baggage that I'm sure I will inevitably share on this thread at a slightly later date, when my my mind is a bit more sedate with cheap Merlot and perhaps possessed by a more "zesty" form of melancholy.

Re: What's Your Favorite Album By The Cure (So Far)?

I love The Cure.

There is much I could say about this band. For now, I will say that, at the age of 42, I have come to see exactly how crass and inane much of the music I have admired (and sometimes still do), really is. However, The Cure have, for me, aged beautifully.

I voted Faith as my favourite album, but that's only because I had to pick one. The first 'album' of theirs I really got into was Japanese Whispers. Then Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me, then some of the earlier stuff (Boys Don't Cry, Seventeen Seconds, etc), and after that... I can't remember the exact order. Perhaps more than any other band, The Cure really bring back memories for me. The last album of theirs I bought was Wild Mood Swings. I realise this was some time back (frightening to think how long now). It's a good album, though.

I must differ on the point of the lipstick.
