Dante Tomaselli

Looking up this filmmaker on the forum I have found nothing, hence I have started this thread devoted to he. The strange and horrific films of Mr Tomaselli are a glorious treat for the macabre enthusiast. Like Ligotti he was brought up a Catholic and also is uninterested in conventional weird scenarios but instead pure imagery of terror. He has only made four films with another two on the horizons of Hell (one being a remake of the 1976 film Alice, Sweet Alice, which his cousin had worked on). His first film was Desecration in 1999. This hideous and unholy tale follows an outsider teenage boy who accidently kills a nun, leading to his eternal damnation. Saturated with eerie and frightful imagery, this is a remarkable film which I can highly recommend. I shall leave the Ligottians to find out more for themselves about this fascinating and avant-garde filmmaker. I would up-load a video or two yet I am afraid I am having difficulties with my computer for the time being which shall need fixing. Overall, the disturbing tales of Dante Tomaselli are enjoyable and highly recommended.

I believe in the power of the imagination to remake the world, to release the truth within us, to hold back the night, to transcend death, to charm motorways, to ingratiate ourselves with birds, to enlist the confidences of madmen.

Re: Dante Tomaselli

I've been a fan of Tomaselli for some time now. He is quite underrated in the horror film underground. He's recently released some CDs of horror soundscapes, which I haven't heard yet.

Interesting. Hadn't heard of him. Which movie do you recommend to start with?

Re: Dante Tomaselli

I tried to watch some of his films after hearing all the hype about them. But I have to say im not a fan. For me the visuals fall flat and it seems to me he is trying to portray his films as being deep as opposed to his films ACUTALLY being deep. But that's just my view.
