Cannes 2016.

Cannes Film Festival is yet again upon us. In less than a month some of the best authors will present their new work. Cannes wouldn't be Cannes without more than few regulars mainly Dardenne brothers who are always one of the favorites, Xavier Dolan who's returning to the competition after last years jury duty, French's own Olivier Assayas with his ghost story set in Paris.

Some old masters are returning, hopefully not only 'cause of their reputation, there's new films by Almodovar, Loach, Verhoeven.

Personally, I'm looking forward the most to the films by the great Cristian Mungiu, already second film this year by one of the best indie authors Jeff Nichols and 2009. Cannes Film Festival best director Brilliante Mendoza.

Official selection looks like this:

Opening night film

Café Society (Woody Allen, US)

In competition

Toni Erdmann (Maren Ade, German)
Julieta (Pedro Almodóvar, Spain)
American Honey (Andrea Arnold, UK)
Personal Shopper (Olivier Assayas, France)
The Unknown Girl (Luc and Jean-Pierre Dardenne, Belgium)
It’s Only the End of the World (Xavier Dolan, Canada)
Ma Loute (Bruno Dumont, France)
Paterson (Jim Jarmusch, US)
Rester Vertical (Alain Guiraudie, France)
Aquarius (Kleber Mendonça Filho, Brazil)
Mal de Pierres (Nicole Garcia, Algeria)
I, Daniel Blake (Ken Loach, UK)
Ma’ Rosa (Brillante Mendoza, Philippines)
Bacalaureat (Cristian Mungiu, Romania)
Loving (Jeff Nichols, US)
The Handmaid (Park Chan-wook, South Korea)
The Last Face (Sean Penn, US)
Sieranevada (Cristi Puiu, Romania)
Elle (Paul Verhoeven, France)
The Neon Demon (Nicholas Winding Refn, US)

I'm getting weaker, I'm getting thin
I hate how obvious I have been
