Re: Tenebrous Tales

The embed function didn't seem to work for some reason, or I'd have done it that way.

I also won't sign up for facebook.

Re: Tenebrous Tales

In FaceBook's defense, I have made a number of new friends through it, and managed to share words with many respected writers. For me, it's been a very useful tool.

It's not all about farm-games. It's about connecting to others who might share your interests. In that sense, the community is little different than the one we have here.

Re: Tenebrous Tales

If it were just about encountering people with common interests, I would be fine with that. But the truth is, I am a very private person for the most part, and I have no desire for people who I knew in elementary school, high school, or past jobs who I have not spoken to in years and years, discover my page and try to re-establish contact with me. Or just to check out how I'm doing. The very thought is a nightmare to me.

It's great for vicious gossip and horse trading too, I've heard.

I'll never join it.

What I don't care for is the vague feeling that you must constantly be updating and posting new material as if to verify your continued existence. It can be great in other ways though.

Re: Tenebrous Tales

These arguments for the most part are no different than those made against a messageboard/forum such as this. No one must contribute more than one wants, or take anything one doesn't.

I have no issue with anyone who doesn't have an interest in joining, but sometimes it feels as though no one speaks up for all the positive things that can be garnered from such a place.

Heck, I've formed better friendships with members of TLO there than I've been able to here. The immediacy makes this possible.

But, to each his or her own.

Re: Tenebrous Tales

Sorry, I didn't intend to make this a Facebook message thread. Just in case my position is not clear - friends invited me to join FB a while back and I wish I never had. Don't do it, folks!

If anyone here knows things about Facebook and message forums, perhaps they can tell me how to embed clips like the one to which I posted a link. The coding providing by Facebook didn't seem to do the trick on its own.

I can't believe that TLO has quite as many potential pitfalls as Facebook, Simon! Not judging by this article anyway...

Still, as you say, each to his own.
