Sarob Press

After reading about the return of Sarob Press over on the Ex Occidente thread last week, I thought that it would be a good idea to start a separate thread devoted to all things related to Sarob Press. I for one am excited to see this small imprint back in business and am very much looking forward to the forthcoming Seven Ghosts and One Other by C.E. Ward. Thanks to Justin Case for the news and to Freyasfire for the link which I'm posting here:

Re: Sarob Press

I have just recently discovered Sarob Press myself, and do not know too much about their previous incarnation. Something tells me that maybe I was missing out. Does anybody here know of any place where I can find a comprehensive list of titles the press released before they closed down the first time?

Unfortunately, I can find no comprehensive list of titles for Sarob Press anywhere online at present so I've put together a list based on the books I have in my own personal collection. I started collecting Sarob Press upon the publication of their first title in 1998 and picked up most everything into 2003 when I stopped buying books for awhile. My list should about cover everything from 1998-2003 and hopefully someone else can provide a list of the remaining titles published through 2007.

Sarob Press

1998

1. Carmilla - J. Sheridan Le Fanu (200 copies)
2. Vengeful Ghosts - C.E. Ward (250 copies)

Re: Sarob Press

Thank you so much for taking the time to compile that list Kobaia! I truly appreciate it, and I envy your collection of Sarob titles.

After doing some research online today, I realized that I did indeed have one Sarob title in my collection, Jessica Amanda Salmonson's The Dark Tales. I also ordered three more today: Rhys Hughes' Journeys Beyond Advice, E.C. Tubbs' Mirror of the Night, and C.E. Ward's upcoming collection. I will hopefully be able to further build this collection up slowly, as several Sarob titles seem to be available online at fairly reasonable prices.

Seeing the Lisa Tuttle title on your list, I cannot help but wonder if any of the content will be duplicated in the Ash Tree collections. It stands to reason that most likely they will be, so I will hold out on Ghosts & Other Lovers for now and focus my attention on some of the rest.

Re: Sarob Press

I went to Amazon Books Advanced Search and typed Sarob Press in the publisher line. It came up with 52 titles.

Re: Sarob Press

In digging through my many boxes of books this afternoon I discovered some more Sarob Press publications to add to my previous list. The Dark Tales by Jessica Amanda Salmonson falls between the Lisa Tuttle and Rhys Hughes books in order of publication, thus, making it No. 23.:

Sarob Press (cont.)

2003

29. The Substance of a Shade - John Glasby
30. Mirror of the Night - E.C. Tubb

2004

31. Postcards From Terri - Tony Richards (February 2004)
32. Solar Pons Versus The Devil's Claw - Basil Copper (May 2004)
33. Howling Hounds - Phil Locascio
34. Darker Ages - Paul Finch
35. Falling Into Heaven - L.H. Maynard & M.P.N. Sims

2005

36. The Dark Destroyer - John Glasby
37. Ghost Dance - Tony Richards
38. Ghosts and Family Legends - Catherine Crowe *
39. Solar Pons: The Final Cases - Basil Copper

2006

40. Damage - Lee Thomas
41. The Nightmare Frontier - Stephen Mark Rainey

2007

42. Defining Moments - David Niall Wilson

There is also a joint Cauchemar Press / Sarob Press venture by Basil Copper called Knife in the Back: Tales of Twilight and Torment, published in 2005. This should cover all of the titles published by Sarob Press from 1998-2007, based on my personal collection and researching the ISBN numbers. Beginning with Cold Hand on My Shoulder, most of the later books were published in both Limited and Deluxe editions, with even a couple of paperback editions thrown in the mix. It would be great to see a comprehensive list posted once Sarob Press has a new website up an running.

Re: Sarob Press

The most recent Sarob Press blog update states that C.E. Ward's Seven Ghosts and One Other is now available; pre-orders have started shipping so I hope to see my copy within the next 1-2 weeks.

Re: Sarob Press

My copy of C.E. Ward's Seven Ghosts and One Other arrived yesterday and harks back to the look of some of the older Sarob Press books, especially the Richard Dalby's Mistresses of the Macabre titles. The cover is printed boards (no dust jacket), with front cover and interior illustrations by Paul Lowe. I'm very pleased with the overall appearance of the book and its arrival coincides with the Halloween weekend which will be the perfect time to enjoy its contents.
