Terrifying is good, terrifying is inspiration in itself. A God-empty universe is a hopeful self-full universe.

Re: Antinatalists Corner

Art and philosophy should always go together, if you think that you can find perfect balance between these two and make it work then you should always go for it, this combination, for me, is always sign of great works. But that is little bit to idealistic, usually one element always hurt another, not because it's a bad combination but mostly because author is just not capable-skilled enough.
Usually, (lesser) art, can do without philosophy but philosophy can never do without art.

Both of them are ultimately achieving absolutely nothing, there is no goal or any substantial reason behind them, you can't hurt them (enough) by mixing them together.

I knew that someday I was gonna die / And I knew before I died Two things would happen to me / That number one I would regret my entire life / And number two I would want to live my life over again.

RE art & philosophy, if there is a philosophy in Ligotti's fiction, naming it antinatalism (or pessimism for that matter) feels just as reductive as naming the philosophy in Lovecraft materialism.

This is William S. Burroughs writing to Ginsberg around 1955.
Very prophetic.

Re: Antinatalists Corner

"In a less scientific age, he would have been a devil-worshipper, a partaker in the abominations of the Black Mass; or would have given himself to the study and practice of sorcery. His was a religious soul that had failed to find good in the scheme of things; and lacking it, was impelled to make of evil itself an object of secret reverence."

~ Clark Ashton Smith, "The Devotee of Evil"
