Re: The Ending of True Detective

I just reread Flannery O'Connor's remarks about "A Good Man is Hard to Find" and noticed something I had passed over unthinkingly. I should have quoted her whole paragraph about the Misfit-as-prophet:

Quote
"I don't want to equate the Misfit with the devil, I prefer to think that, however unlikely this may seem, the old lady's gesture, like the mustard-seed, will grow to be a great crow-filled tree in the Misfits' heart, and will be enough of a pain to him there to turn him into the prophet he was meant to become. But that's another story."
She ends by saying, "But that's another story," which I take to be an admonition that this goes beyond the story "A Good Man is Hard to Find."

I just wanted to add this in the interest of fairness, or accuracy, or whatever.

Re: The Ending of True Detective

Thanks very much, Gveranon. I hadn't read that quote but that was what I meant when I wrote:"Maybe that's the story she wished she had written." That would make an interesting story indeed!

It's nice that Padgett stepped up and said something regarding the matter.
That, too, would have required more content.

In my case, I decided to watch the program because I thought it was going to be about conspiracy with any buddy cop content used for secondary purposes.

If there is a sequel to True Detective season 1 we'll probably see Cohle with plenty of children of his
