TLO Newsletter - CATHR Special Announcement

A special CATHR newsletter notice has been sent this morning to all TLO members. As I utilized a new program for the mass mailing, please let me know if you did not receive the email notice or if there was a problem with content/format.

You can unsubscribe to future mailings by proceeding to the Edit Profile section of User Control Panel:
Menu-->User-->Edit Profile

Scroll down to Additional Information and you can opt out of receiving future Special Announcements. These will be limited in frequency based upon the importance of a news item. There is also a newsletter option (see above) to change the content format to Text in lieu of HTML. If your email notice lacked graphics or was formatted poorly, it is suggested that you change your newsletter format to Text.

An optional periodical mailing is in the works which will summarize site activity, likely on a weekly basis. Newsletters can be browsed by proceeding to the following link:

Thank you for the feedback. I believe a small percentage of the emails might have been issued empty. I think I have resolved the issue and will send out another notice later in order to address those that received blank emails.

I had no problem with the email messages. However, casually clicking on the newsletter link led me to this error message:

eldritch00, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

On an off-topic note, G. S. Carnivals, where did you get your signature from?

Unfortunately, the software that I am using for email announcements is currently in Beta. The fixes which were implemented yesterday in eliminating some issues resulted in public front-end being inaccessible. This should be corrected soon. Incidentally, members likely received three notices yesterday in my attempts to get everything right. Good intentions in triplicate, nothing more.

Thanks for the welcome back! I haven't been reading much in the way of Ligotti or Ligottian writing for some time now. Combine that with a wonky Internet connection and much busyness, I haven't been able to drop by here enough.

(Funny that my Ligotti fast is now being broken by something as undiluted as CATHR!)


Dr. Bantham, no worries. In any case, the messages did show up, and they were certainly a pleasant surprise.

In order to address the issues with the Beta scripts for the newsletter system, I had to reinstall it from scratch. This resulted in some issues being resolved, but the emails from yesterday have now lost their graphic backgrounds due to file references being extinct. I suspect the unsubscribe link no longer works for these original emails as well. I should know better than to go live with Beta scripts, but I was anxious to get the notice out. This system will be refined soon and allow for automatic email periodicals to be sent out to subscribers.
