Re: Ligotti's Guitars

Good one! But don't open the case.

Re: Ligotti's Guitars

A few years ago, someone noticed that Ligotti was selling some guitars on Amazon and created a thread here about it. I can't find the thread now, but my memory is that Ligotti had five Fender Telecasters for sale.

I also remember Dr. Bantham mentioning that he has an acoustic guitar that once belonged to Ligotti.

I know little about guitars myself, and can't play, but I love the idea of a guitar mini-interview. That would be very interesting.

Re: Ligotti's Guitars

Thanks, gveranon! I guessed Ligotti would have a Fender. Five is cool.
The post may have been deleted after they were sold. Too bad.

Oddly enough, my son was playing this guitar while I was reading this thread. He has more natural talent than I, but I have never been one to allow the lack of talent to dampen my obsession with music. It is a Seagull S6 as a limited edition from some years ago, in that it has a built in LR Baggs Duet II pickup system, flame maple back and orange "tort" tuners. As I recall, the last guitar that Tom mentioned picking up was a Danaelectro.

Re: Ligotti's Guitars

Jimmy Page was one of several that played a Danelectro. I remember those "lipstick" pickups very well...

A musical interview, even a short one, would not be a bad idea.

Re: Ligotti's Guitars

Ligotti apparently likes Danelectro axes. They demonstrate a very cool and vintage model in this video.
Norm's is the Ultimate Heaven for seekers after the most rare and expensive (many in the six figures) exotics.

As for me, the Spanish Electric 335 is the only electric a player needs.

Some years ago, an evil mother stole my late 60's Gibson ES 335 (mahogany with the trapeze bridge). I searched high and low for an affordable replacement with the same tone and playability. One word.
Ibanez.
Their knock-offs (with the Super 58 pickups) are of amazing quality. And a bonus: the slightly reduced size makes the guitar more comfortable to play. And as far as my ears can tell, the loss of a little wood makes no difference to the essential tone.

This guy is an amazing player:
