Re: Getting old...
I don't know. I lost so many people in 2016 that my life presents a vacancy that I haven't ever felt before. I still have my mother and sister, neither of which I really get along with, but all my friends have been lost to death or personal reasons. It's led to a feeling of existential detachment and loneliness that keeps me silent and incapable of even attempting to form new relationships. It's weird. I don't care but deep down I really do. I still keep to myself, though. I don't even think I possess the skills to make new friendships. Pretty damn pathetic, because that's usually unlike me.
I still dream of moving off to Alaska or some other remote location and living off the land with a bunch of animals. The older I get the more I relate to my animal friends, and rely on them as they do me.

Re: Getting old...
Yes, animal friends can count for a lot. My big Tux cat, Tacitus, took a stoke two days ago but he seems to be recovering nicely. If humans could only bounce back like this from a stroke! But strokes happen for different reasons in felines and they usually get back to almost 100%.

Re: Getting old...
I saw this last night:
A slow burn, but worth it in the end. http://www.online-literature.com/dante/inferno/1/ Midway upon the journey of our life I found myself within a forest dark, For the straightforward pathway had been lost. Ah me! how hard a thing it is to say What was this forest savage, rough, and stern, Which in the very thought renews the fear. So bitter is it, death is little more; But of the good to treat, which there I found, Speak will I of the other things I saw there.

Re: Getting old...
Think this forum’s posters are 100% male so will interpret this topic as a men’s health thread.
Maintaining T levels over time is important as testosterone naturally decreases with age. There are some men who don’t seem too affected (John Mundy and Jason V Brock for example, although Brock lifts weights so that might factor in too) and can maintain stallion status like a 25 year old even into their 40s. But for everyone else I can see the T levels naturally starting to decline from late 30s onwards. I think the best regimen is basically: 1. Gym routine, training with free weights two to three times a week. Take creatine and focus on deadlifts, bench, etc. Will lead to increased health and strength. 2. Get diet sorted. Eat regularly and supplement with whey protein. Avoid refined carbs, McDonald’s, etc. No need to go full vegan but definitely hit the veggies every day. 3. Supplements. I’m taking fish oil for omega-3s, ZMA for zinc and magnesium, grape seed extract, and thinking of trying pumpkin seed as well. Would be interested to hear what everyone else is on? 4. Cialis - supposedly has some health benefits apart from providing rock solid erections (be sure to pull these out in time to maintain your antinatalist edge) for older men. Check here for more info. No idea how credible this is but have never tried C…anyone here have experience with it? My friends in their late 40s and 50s swear by it. 5. Getting to the doctor and dentist - actually do this semi-regularly; I suck at it too but it seems to become increasingly important. 6. Acupuncture - never tried but heard good things…credible?

Re: Getting old...
Justin, hemp seeds are pretty good sprinkled over top of Greek yogurt. Toss some blueberries in and it's a fab breakfast.

Also get a high grade blender, Nutribullet for example, and toss everything in - avocado, blueberries, yogurt, etc. Makes for some powerful nutrient smoothie hits when you need them.

I also usually have oatmeal with locally-sourced clover honey, cinnamon, dried cranberries/raisins, pecans (when I have them in the pantry), and peanut butter. Great ####. |

What about Bleak&Icy? She's a man too?

"Tell me how you want to die, and I'll tell you who you are. In other words, how do you fill out an empty life? With women, books, or worldly ambitions? No matter what you do, the starting point is boredom, and the end self-destruction. The emblem of our fate: the sky teeming with worms. Baudelaire taught me that life is the ecstasy of worms in the sun, and happiness the dance of worms."
