Re: The Saddest Music in the World
Can I just apologise for that last track? It's not so much the song, which I love, but the fact that the attached video itself misappropriates a track which really has very little to do with a message of hope and which I didn't notice until it appeared here after my tracking it down.
I recognise that the message is valid (somewhat), but it wasn't exactly what I intended, though I couldn't be bothered to make the counter point until now. This one by the same band is, however, untainted by such crap. The happy, the attached, the smug and the lucky in life need not comment. And thankfully there's no joining of hands. The lonely defy, and rightly, continue in their defiance. Mark S. |

Re: The Saddest Music in the World
-Thanks to my father, I grew up hearing a good deal of vintage country music - artists like the Sons of the Pioneers, Cash, Williams, the 'outlaws' of the '60s/'70s; and for whatever reason this old favorite of his has returned to haunt me of late.

Your fall should be like the fall of mountains. But I was before mountains. I was in the beginning, and shall be forever. The first and the last. The world come full circle. I am not the wheel. I am the hand that turns the wheel. I am Time, the Destroyer. I was the wind and the stars before this. Before planets. Before heaven and hell. And when all is done, I will be wind again, to blow this world as dust back into endless space. To me the coming and going of Man is as nothing.

Re: The Saddest Music in the World
It's strange to hear music sadder than what I usually listen to. I especially like Emily Barker's Nostalgia and Carly Commando's Everyday.
This song though, I listened to it after a favorite character died and bawled my eyes out.
"Tell me how you want to die, and I'll tell you who you are. In other words, how do you fill out an empty life? With women, books, or worldly ambitions? No matter what you do, the starting point is boredom, and the end self-destruction. The emblem of our fate: the sky teeming with worms. Baudelaire taught me that life is the ecstasy of worms in the sun, and happiness the dance of worms."
