Re: Egaeus Press
I finally managed to procure the money for ordering the Bergun collection, and am looking forward to receiving it. I've enjoyed his collections so far, and hope this one is just as good. If it isn't, I'm sure the physical presentation of the book can redeem it to a certain extent.

Re: Egaeus Press
I don't think you need worry about the content; this is Berguno at his most consistently inspired (though you might argue I would say that). Let me know how you get on in any case. Your copy was posted yesterday.

Re: Egaeus Press
The collection has arrived and, like other books from Egaeus, it has a delightful and attractive book design.
I have yet to start reading, but I ran through the story notes and was pleasantly surprised to see Berguño list the brilliant Swedish writer Torgny Lindgren as an influence. |

Re: Egaeus Press
This collection was simply outstanding!! I truly enjoyed George's first attempt at a novella, SPELL OF SUBTLE HUNTING. I'm curious to find out what other thought. I really enjoyed how George presented Ernst Junger in the way he did.

Re: Egaeus Press
In addition, I know we are discussing this on another thread with another great master of the craft, Michael Cisco, but I'd like to point out that Egaeus has found the very difficult balance between aesthetics and function for all of their books published thus far. Some of my limited edition and/or small press books I cannot read without specialized equipment usually used to make watches but Egaeus has found a way to balance the beauty of the book with repeated readings. I'm certainly not going to put this in my backpack and read it while eating a breakfast burrito but I also don't have to afraid if I open the book it will immediately lose value. Outstanding work over there at Egaeus.

Re: Egaeus Press
Another glowing review of George Berguño's The Tainted Earth has appeared online, this time on Rick Kleffel's Agony Column. Read it HERE. And please note, as the man says "hurry up and buy a copy [...] before this book goes out of print..."

Re: Egaeus Press
I finished The Tainted Earth over the weekend and found it absolutely phenomenal, Berguño's best work to date. I love how he can write in so many different styles authentically, and how he incorporates so many of his passions and interests into his work while still maintaining his own voice. The highlight of the book for me was definitely "A Spell of Subtle Hunting". Berguño really does excel at the novella format, and I hope to see more work by him in this format. I particularly liked the fact that even though I had never read any Jünger, I didn't feel like I was missing out. His story notes are always a bonus as well, and have given me many suggestions for future reading.
Like all Egaeus Press books thus far, the production and design were impeccable. I am very looking forward to seeing what literary treasures Egaeus will unleash upon us lucky readers next!
