I've assumed that Richard was DoppleCoop and Audrey's offspring - similar to Almodovar's Talk to Her.

This prompts me think ... what if Audrey doesn't even know that has a son?

That would be twisted.

Re: Twin Peaks - Series 3

Tonight's episode was one of the best!
So many ZOMG! moments ...

Spoilers ...

Best line tonight
"GOD DAMN IT, HOW MANY TIMES HAVE I TOLD YOU?! THIS IS WHAT WE DO IN THE F! B! I!"

Gordon's pain when the windows are being cleaned.

Sarah's scene in the bar!

The revelation of the relationship between Diane and Janie-E!

The entire hike in the woods to Jack Rabbit's Palace was evoked so much nostalgia for the first season - strong reminders of the scene where Coop, Andy, Hawk, Harry, and Dr Hayward visit Margaret's cabin (I can't bring myself to call her the Log Lady - that just seems spiteful and reminds me of how sad Catherine Coulson's death makes me).

Deputy Andy is a noble badass.

The scene in the jail with the drunk taunting deputy Chad (It's about tie they arrested him) mirroring the taunting of James by Bobby and Mike in season 1.

Overall, I think this was the strongest episode (episode may have the biggest Wow factor) of the series.

Re: Twin Peaks - Series 3

Was a brilliant episode, although I need to rewatch it as the first thirty minutes were ranging from moderately pixelated to so broken up I could barely see anything. "You sure you want to #### with this?" Ha ha ha. That was unreal.

Re: Twin Peaks - Series 3

So anyone else suspect Frost and Lynch have been reading a fair amount of Grant Morrison? The nuclear-test-as-explanation-for-entry-of-extracosmic evil thing from Episode 8 occurred in The Invisibles as well, and Episode 14's Freddie has an origin story suspiciously similar to The Love Glove from Doom Patrol...or am I wrong? I was willing to write the nuclear test thing off as a coincidence/convergent influence thing (since Morrison and Frost have both explicitly referenced Jack Parsons if I remember right), but after the glove thing it seems almost deliberate...and Season 3 as a whole has a kind of Doom Patrol vibe. Freddie is probably the closest Peaks has come to having an actual superhero character (apart from super strength Nadine), and Evil Cooper had a very supervillain scene last week with the arm wrestling and one punch kill. Lots of Morrison/comic feels...more so than anything in the film or previous seasons.

Interesting. I'll have to check out Doom Patrol. I couldn't get into The Invisibles.

Re: Twin Peaks - Series 3

I'm just sitting here wondering what's going to happen when Sarah Palmer is thrown in jail with Naido.

Will Sarah extract Laura from Naido? Will Naido extract Mother/Experiment from Sarah? Something along these lines???

Re: Twin Peaks - Series 3

ZOMG! Tonight's episode was such an emotional roller coaster.

The only emotions that I feel are for tv characters - oh boy!

SPOILERS:

The opening with Nadine giving Ed his freedom.
Ed's rushing to the diner ...

"Cup of coffee ... and a cyanide tablet"

But then Norma touches Ed on the shoulder.

Margaret Lanterman's final phone call.
The way the light in her cabinet dimmed.
I can't remember the last time I felt so sad.

Charlene Yi's primal scream on the floor of the Roadhouse.

Finally, in the credits ...

In Memory of Margaret Lanterman

I hope Catherine Coulson knew how the series would end before she died.

Re: Twin Peaks - Series 3

The Log Lady has passed away for real, a sad moment. The mortality of the character and the actor meld, and the memory is allowed to be rubbed like an old river stone in dreamtime.

Re: Twin Peaks - Series 3

I enjoyed the episode and was also saddened by the death of the Log Lady. Not a big fan of Big Ed, unfortunately.

The Mauve Zone/Black Lodge scene inside the "convenience store" was interesting. Who was the mysterious lady who unlocked the door and who also appeared in the creepy post-credits scene?

Interesting that FBI agent Phillip Jeffries now seems to be a steampunk-type metallic cannister. I was reminded of the alien brain cannisters in Lovecraft's "The Whisperer in Darkness." There is a picture on this page:

In many ways I find the story with Audrey and Charles to be the most baffling of all. Is she really in a coma, as some suggest? Or why can't she leave the house?
