Lovecraftian Music
Hi all. I wanted to let you all know that there is a new album out by a band called "The Unquiet Void" that is an "All Lovecraft" album. It's called "Poisoned Dreams". Musically it would fall under the Dark Ambient genre. Just to give you an idea, some of the tracks have titles like: Cyclopean Monoliths, Necronomicon, Return to Innsmouth, The Esoteric Order, R'lyeh Rerisen, ....you get the idea. From what I have heard it's the first of a 3 CD series. It's great stuff.

Re: Lovecraftian Music
and i would whole-heartedly agree with that, my dancing jester of the degenerate pallid unspeakable jig! Unquiet Void is awesome, creepy reciting of a few Lovecraft passages and mild, disturbing soundscapes comingling with dissonate harsh industrialness - but not overly so. like the wheel turning in darkness...

Went to their website and checked out one of their tracks. Sounds really foul (which is to say I thought it was pretty great). Thanks for that link, NN!

Anyone who enjoyed UNQUIET VOID might be interested in visiting the band page @ myspace. It offers several songsamples and also a few links to other projects that Jason is working on.

Re: Lovecraftian Music
I checked out The Unquiet Void and definitely dug 'em. If you're interested in more of a psych/progressive rock thing with "eldritch drones," you should check out this Lovecraftian album, "Eldritch Musicks":

Re: Lovecraftian Music
Lyrics: The cold comes The rats in the walls break The deadly sound of silence As time decays You try to name the unnamable A whispererer in darkness Our hound smells you The haunter of the dark Will come to take you to our realm Your life, your books March in front your closing eyes Beyond the walls of sleep Lovecraft in the realm of the dead Obsessed with Necronomicon The Arab's wicked dream You found a path to Azathoth And walked the Dagon's realm Your friends were haunted too Do you remember Charles? Or haven't you heard The music of Erich Zann The call of Cthulhu we disguised With notes and raving rhythms To spread the seed of lurking fear Into the heart of man Lovecraft in the realm of the dead Your time is out you saw too much You used the silver key You know too well that minds like yours Can never rest in peace You stared at the abyss You'll never rest in peace You'll never rest in peace | |||||||||||

Re: Lovecraftian Music
Case of stumbling into something blind. I just picked up a cd of classical composer Jeffrey Stadelman entitled Pity Paid. There's a 10 minute piece for chamber orchestra called "Starry Wisdom." The title of the piece referencing Lovecraft's "The Haunter of the Dark." Stadelman notes "one prevailing extra-musical image in composing the piece was of a hypothetical "instrumental liturgy" employed by the Starry Wisdom cult worshippers.
