It appears Runa-Raven Press has decided to reprint Stanisław Przybyszewski's book The Synagogue of Satan. I've been looking for this book for a while. Their previous english edition was recently selling for $280.00 used on Amazon. As of the reprint, you can get it for only $15. Perhaps Stanisław Przybyszewski deserves his own thread?

Re: In search of Stefan Grabinski

Hi guys!
I'm newbie here but I'm a longtime fan of Stefan Grabiński and his works.
I'm from Russia, and 8 years ago two volumes "Best of" set was pressed by our Aenigma Publishing House - 2 first novels and 2 dozens of stories from 5 collections.
Also I'm one of the admins of the the FantLab site and I'll try to compile full bibliography of Stefan Grabiński. While searching through Google Books I already found original dates of publication for 71 or 72 stories and novellas, including several uncollected stories from magazines and papers.
I don't know how my list is comprehensive and full, and how many from his works (except unfinished novel) unpublished yet.

May be one of you can help me?
Anybody have the old book "Twórczość Literacka Stefana Grabinskiego" (1959) by Artur Hutnikiewicz?
I know there was the title for one story - "Święto sadów".
But I can't find original date and place of publication...
And how many works pan Grabinski published in the last three years of his life, 1934-1936?

Thanks in advance! Hope you can help me...

By the way I'm big fan of Thomas Ligotti works too =)
But sadly only several stories can be found on russian language...

Re: In search of Stefan Grabinski

Welcome to TLO, fluteboy!

I have a copy of "Twórczość Literacka Stefana Grabinskiego". This work is very scarce these day. Throughout the last 7 years I've only seen 3 copies of this book: two of them were auctioned and the third one is the one I bought from an antiquarian bookshop.
"Święto sadów" was published in Gazeta Poranna (Lwów) issued on 3-8th of November 1912.

Here is the full list of works by Grabinski from this book:

This bibliography is devided into 4 sections: book editions, works scattered, literary criticism and manuscripts. Let me know if you have any questions regarding Polish vocabulary in this bibliography.
I hope this helps!

Yes, I know. It's rare in nowadays...

Pages 467 and 468 is the big surprise for me, mostly. Several unknown stories and articles, unpublished novella..
Just fantastic! Great thanks! Your quick answer is the real help to cross out all my questions...
I appreciate it!

Only one moment confusing me now -
"Przypowieść o krecie tunelowym" (in this list)
or
"Opowieść o odmieńcu tunelowym" (in the text, as I saw it through Google Books) -
what this could be? Story without date... Other story related title...

Sorry for my not-so-good english

I think it is the same story. Hutnikiewicz might have gotten the title wrong. The source is missing. Unfortunately I'm not aware of any other work on Grabinski where this story is mentioned, so I've no idea how to track this story down.

It's such a pity that a great amount of Grabinski's output is out of print and incredibly difficult to find. I recently discovered that a scan of the first collection of strange stories by Grabinski (written under his nom-de-plume Stefan Żalny) has been uploaded to a Polish online library. Now, this quite a treat asthis volume is almost unobtainable:

I don't think so, Mark. In fact, I have reasons to believe that this thread is the first and only place on the internet where it can be seen. But then, I might be wrong.

However, if there is anything on this list you'd like to identify, just let me know.

Re: In search of Stefan Grabinski

We have just the three slim volumes of Grabinski available in English, so it's amazing to realise there is so much more material out there.

Grabinki is quite unique, and I know I'm not the only one who one will snap up anything else by him that appears in translation.

Re: In search of Stefan Grabinski

I'm sorry to say I only discovered Grabinski's work after it became near impossible to find issues of "The Grabinski Reader." So far as I can tell, Miroslaw Lipinski included a couple essays and other scholarly references in these along with Grabinski stories (correct me if I'm wrong). Anyone know if these pieces have ever been reprinted elsewhere? Grabinski scholarship is pretty difficult to come by.

On another note, I thought Ash-Tree's The Motion Demon was going to be the first volume of several Grabinski books. I haven't heard anything for a long time about new books in the works, which is a shame.
