The real reason why so few men believe in God is that they have ceased to believe that even a God can love them.

Re: Clips from your Favourite Movies

There's some great stuff on here, I must say.

Now it's time to lower the tone. But I love this scene. And the whole movie.

Re: Clips from your Favourite Movies

My favorite Stanley Kubrick film:

Your fall should be like the fall of mountains. But I was before mountains. I was in the beginning, and shall be forever. The first and the last. The world come full circle. I am not the wheel. I am the hand that turns the wheel. I am Time, the Destroyer. I was the wind and the stars before this. Before planets. Before heaven and hell. And when all is done, I will be wind again, to blow this world as dust back into endless space. To me the coming and going of Man is as nothing.

Re: Clips from your Favourite Movies

- I find the use of the 'Vorspiel' in those scenes, especially in the finale, makes them almost unbearably moving.

"When a man is born. . .there are nets flung at (his being) to hold it back from flight. You talk to me of nationality, language, religion. I shall try to fly by those nets." - James Joyce

Yeah, me too. The first time I hear Vorspiel was in Werner Herzog's Nosferatu and fell in love with it.

Re: Clips from your Favourite Movies

- Far from a favorite but still an interesting, quite deranged, curiosity; a late-60's grindhouse variation on 'The Most Dangerous Game' featuring a washed-up Jake LaMotta essentially playing himself and shot on James Wong Howe' Seconds camera.

Re: Clips from your Favourite Movies

my favourite scene from a Dario Argento film (starts at 1h4m40s):

"In my imagination, I have a small apartment in a small town where I live alone and gaze through a window at a wintry landscape." -- TL
