Link pirates!

I'm not sure if "link pirates" is the right term, but - if you google "ligotti", the first result is naturally "ligotti.net". Unfortunately the link in the results listing actually takes you to one of those annoying and sinister websites where there are hundreds of pop ups.

I can't remember the exact name, but think it was something along the lines of "url2short". It didn't do anything immediately evil to my laptop, but I used "end task" (being on a Windows laptop at the time) to ensure it died quickly and convincingly.

I just wanted to warn everyone of this - I'm not sure what the procedure is to destroy people who hijack links, but I hope that those with that power will unleash it mercilessly.

This has been brought to my attention a couple of times recently by another vigilant member. I employed what turned out to be temporary fixes, but I believe I might have fixed the problem for good tonight. Having said that, if anyone notices this issue again, please let me know directly.

Re: Link pirates!

This hacking incident was elusive and deeply rooted within the code of TLO. After several false resolutions I believe I have resolved the culprit. Unfortunately, I fear this could have diminished the general awareness and access of TLO for some time now. Somehow fitting as a big girl's blouse or ill matched trousers, but you must get the gist in the midst of irony, I am sure so long as you disagree.

Re: Link pirates!

Thank you Dr Bantham and sorry for creating extra work.

There should be a statue erected in your honour to celebrate all your work, but that wouldn’t really be appropriate for people such as us who frequent this site.

Instead, allow me to offer my skills in administering pain and anguish to those that hijacked the link should we track them down to their sweaty little hideout!
