"Humanity is divided into two main categories..." ?
Near the end of Boredom by Alberto Moravia (translated by Angus Davidson), the narrator recalls a remark he has once heard:
"Humanity is divided into two main categories; those who, when faced with an insurmountable difficulty, feel an impulse to kill, and those who, on the contrary, feel an impulse to kill themselves." It sounds familiar. Can anyone help me identify who wrote it (if it isn’t Moravia himself)? | |||||||||||
