Christopher Slatsky
I haven't heard much about Christopher Slatsky around here. For those familiar with his work, what are your thoughts?

"In a less scientific age, he would have been a devil-worshipper, a partaker in the abominations of the Black Mass; or would have given himself to the study and practice of sorcery. His was a religious soul that had failed to find good in the scheme of things; and lacking it, was impelled to make of evil itself an object of secret reverence."

Re: Christopher Slatsky
For my money... one of the brightest upcoming writers of weird horror. His story in Nightscript vol2 is amazing.

Re: Christopher Slatsky
Slatsky is a brilliant writer of Weird fiction. I was set to accept one of his stories for publication in Strange Aeons just before stepping down as Fiction Editor.
I started his collection and found the quality of his prose to be rich and textured, his themes interesting, odd, and wonderfully dark. I very much look forward to diving deeper into his work, as I feel like I've only scratched the surface. I agree wholeheartedly with luciferfell.

Re: Christopher Slatsky
The story was inspired by Franz Stuck’s painting, and the enigmatic power of Medusa in weird fiction (Ligotti’s story immediately comes to mind as a brilliant example of course). My being an American living in London for a bit had some bearing on the matter as well. It’s my take on Shelley’s idea that gorgons represent “the tempestuous loveliness of terror.” I tried to capture the conflict of being both elated and terrified at the prospect of a new life, of terminating a long term relationship to pursue a new existence, running away to a foreign land, changing your very identity.

Re: Christopher Slatsky
As I finish up my reading of Alectryomancer and Other Weird Tales, and mentally add it to my list of favorite Weird fiction collections of all time, I run across Thomas Joyce's review of Christopher Slatsky's latest at This Is Horror.
Cop some Slatsky. He's one of the best going.
