Ligotti Theme Park

As I was surfing the web today, being careful to avoid sharks, I came across an article about how film studios had various plans to make them parks from various successful movies. It got me to thinking - What would a Ligotti theme park be like? What would it be called? What would the various attractions be? Surely, there would be a gas station. A puppet show would be a must. And watch out for the hypnotist performing just after twilight.

Any thoughts? What would you like to see in a Ligotti theme park? What would you call such a venture? Where would you locate it? Let your insanity run free.

Three words: Gas Station Carnivals.

"Thomas Ligotti is a master of a different order, practically a different species. He probably couldn’t fake it if he tried, and he never tries. He writes like horror incarnate.”

Re: Ligotti Theme Park

Two words: Red Tower.

I mean the design is already written. Remember, they gotta pay extra to go to the bottom 3rd level. That's where we really bring in the big bucks. Also, as you're walking out you can buy your novelty goods from the gift shop.

Re: Ligotti Theme Park

- I'm curious about what the equivalent of the 'Small World' ride would be in LigottiLand; "It's a Sideshow Universe After All"? In any case, I'm guessing it would feature puppets that gradually realize what they are, go mad, and end up cutting their own strings.

Re: Ligotti Theme Park

Welcome to Funny Town.

Your fall should be like the fall of mountains. But I was before mountains. I was in the beginning, and shall be forever. The first and the last. The world come full circle. I am not the wheel. I am the hand that turns the wheel. I am Time, the Destroyer. I was the wind and the stars before this. Before planets. Before heaven and hell. And when all is done, I will be wind again, to blow this world as dust back into endless space. To me the coming and going of Man is as nothing.

An entrance like Luna Park Sydney ...

... in the 1980s.

And then maybe something like this.

A possible theme song for all rides?

The "small world" song could literally go as is if the theme park were to have a Small People ride.

Maybe it wouldn't be a theme park per se, but merely a conglomeration of sideshows, all merely hinting at the existence of an unseen and unknowable main attraction. One sideshow would be a puppet show in an old shed at the edge of the park. Another would just have the Showman with his back to the audience (and did he just move ever so slightly?). Another would be a replica of Dr. Voke's loft, with a strange mechanism that picks someone from the audience at random and whisks them upward into the darkness. In another you can experience firsthand the infinite terror and dreariness of an infested bungalow house, etc.

“When does the next tour begin?”
“When you hear the singing, you will know it is time.”
