Topic Nominated Ligotti panel at NecronomiCon Providence 2017

This sounds spectacular! A panel at NecronomiCon Providence 2017:

Saturday, August 19 – 4:30-5:45pm
TEATRO GROTTESCO: The Bleak Universe of Thomas Ligotti – Grand Ballroom, Biltmore 17th Floor
Thomas Ligotti embraces the themes and moods of Lovecraft, Schulz, Cioran and others, and emerged from the shadow of these literary heirs to become one of the most powerful voices in Weird fiction. In this panel we discuss the bleak and pessimistic universe his work evokes, as well as works crafted by writers who count him among their influences.
Panelists: Matthew Bartlett, Michael Calia, Michael Cisco, Kurt Fawver, Alex Houstoun (Moderator), Jon Padgett

Can't wait!

I'm glad this is happening. I just feel a little bitter knowing I won't be able to go - yet again.

"In a less scientific age, he would have been a devil-worshipper, a partaker in the abominations of the Black Mass; or would have given himself to the study and practice of sorcery. His was a religious soul that had failed to find good in the scheme of things; and lacking it, was impelled to make of evil itself an object of secret reverence."

Re: Ligotti panel at NecronomiCon Providence 2017

This certainly looks to be one of the more interesting panels at the convention this year. About time they have a Ligotti panel, frankly.

Speaking of which, who else here is planning on going to the NecronomiCon? This will be my third time attending, and the first time I'll be staying at the hotel the convention is taking place at: for the previous two conventions I would take the bus back and forth from my home to Providence, but I found that by doing so I was pretty much missing all of the morning and evening festivities, so I figured it would be easier if I just booked a room at the hotel itself this year (as it is, I love staying at hotels).

I will be there also, along with a friend from Maine. We're staying at the Biltmore, a cool-looking old building that looks like something out of Lovecraft.

I think I am going to attend. I am in Connecticut so it is a stone's throw away. Looks to be very interesting.

Yes, I'll be at the Biltmore as well. Lovecraft actually mentioned that very hotel in "The Case of Charles Dexter Ward," incidentally, so there certainly is that connection with his work.

I hear that, boss. Event fees seem more or less reasonable.
Airfare, hotel accommodations, and meals boost it up quite a bit.
Plus, to be honest, I tire of being around most people.

Is it because you don't care for the company of others or because you find it physically draining? I'm just curious.

By and large I dislike the herd.
