Re: Chomu Press
I come late to the ebook discussion.
I do love physical books, but these days I prefer to buy ebooks. The main reason is space. I already had too many books when I still lived in Belgium, and now living in Hong Kong space has become precarious. In the end we now have a 4 meter long bookcase in the living room, and the books need to fit. I did buy a few physical books the last two years (when no e-alternative existed), and i could make them fit by giving away a few older books. Plus, ebooks are great for travelling light. I have meanwhile around 300 books on my kindle (50% read, unfortunately my compulsive acquiring hasn't slowed), which are always available and take zero space. Lovely. I agree that piracy may be a problem and it is unethical, but I don't know how much real impact it has. You only really lose money if the person would have bought the book if he were not able to find it for free. I think that the kind of reader who enjoys small press books from Chomu, Tartarus, Ash Tree etc would simply buy the ebook when it is available, the prices are reasonable anyway. I will admit to having a handful of illegal ebooks: a few uncollected JD Salinger tales (near impossible to find nowadays in the original magazines) and a few more leaked unpublished ones by him. To be frank, these tales don t have the magic of his well known tales, but as a former fan of the writer I wanted to read these stories. I also have a leaked early movie script of At the mountains of madness by Del Toro. But that's it. Life is easy and reasonably priced when buying the interesting ebooks.

Re: Chomu Press
There's a new interview with Kristine Ong Muslim up at the Friends of Chomu Press Goodreads group page:
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show...-fcp-exclusive As I understand it, this is the first of a series of interviews with the authors who contributed to the Dadaoism anthology.

Re: Chomu Press
Notice: We've been looking into the 'Temporarily out of stock' notices at Amazon. We've written to Lightning Source, who print and distribute our books, and they say: "What is now happening is that Amazon are setting product availability based on physical stock. Since the nature of the print on demand supply chain means that any stock they hold is transient this causes the online availability to flip between ‘in stock’ and ‘temporarily out of stock’ as orders are placed, fulfilled to Amazon and in turn sent by Amazon to their end user." We are investigating further, but what I take this to mean is that if the books are ordered, they come back into stock. So, please do not be put off by 'temporarily out of stock' messages at Amazon.

Re: Chomu Press
For the first time that I am aware of, a Chomu publication is mentioned in the New York Times, in an interview with Roxane Gay, under the question, "What's your favourite book no one else has heard of?"

Re: Chomu Press
I thought her references to 'The Brave Little Toaster' and it's influence on her writing and mindset were quite avant. Now I want to read "Dadaoism," not least of all because of her contribution.

Re: Chomu Press
We have just uploaded an interview with P.F. Jeffery, author of Jane.
https://soundcloud.com/chomuradioarc...fery-interview It's a fairly wide-ranging conversation, touching upon such subjects as British Leyland and the legacy of President Kennedy, as well as, of course, the author's fiction and the far-future world in which it is is set. Please enjoy...
