I second the recommendation. Very much so.

Re: Movie Recommendations

This move flew under the radar. Though it might seem like a tacky trailer, this is great stuff.

Re: Movie Recommendations

It's kinda difficult to go from film trailers because they tend to make films look dumb.

But here are my favourites I can remember from the last two years.

Ghost Of Yotsuya (Nakagawa)
Amer
Strange Color Of Your Body's Tears
Night Of The Devils (Ferroni)
Borderlands
A Field In England
Perfume Of The Lady In Black
Berberian Sound Studio
Panna A Netvor/Beauty And The Beast (Juraj Herz)
Stoker
Room Of Laughter (Nina Shorina short film)
Dir En Grey - Agitated Scream Of Maggots (Keita Kurosaka music video)

Dark Waters by Mariano Baino isn't as good as those but deserves a mention.

Re: Movie Recommendations

Not horror but I love this, it's fantastic!

Salome's Last Dance (Ken Russell).

I had heard a lot of mixed things about this but I thought it was bloody brilliant! It's a play happening within the film, so a lot of the artificiality works a bit easier. It's funny. It has Wolf from Gladiators. Ken Russell has funny acting parts.
Imogen Millais-Scott was fantastic, she has such a great voice. She hasn't acted in much, it seems that she's been plagued with health problems. Apparently she was nearly blind when she filmed this.

It was a Italian DVD copy, thankfully it was also quite cheap.

Really love when Salome describes the body of John The Bapist and repeats "Let me kiss your mouth!"

I really love Ken Russell, but the DVD representation of his output is quite poor unfortunately.
I also recently saw Mahler and The Music Lovers. They're both wonderful too.

I don't know if this is commendable, because I have not seen it. But you might want to try it out.

Re: Movie Recommendations

Three great versions of a story I love. The first horror/weird tale I loved:

Your fall should be like the fall of mountains. But I was before mountains. I was in the beginning, and shall be forever. The first and the last. The world come full circle. I am not the wheel. I am the hand that turns the wheel. I am Time, the Destroyer. I was the wind and the stars before this. Before planets. Before heaven and hell. And when all is done, I will be wind again, to blow this world as dust back into endless space. To me the coming and going of Man is as nothing.

Re: Movie Recommendations

That first Watson/Webber version is one of my favourites, I forgotten to list it on the previous page. It's a great approach, far better than the two longer films.

Re: Movie Recommendations

I have not seen Salome's Last Dance. I loved this version by Clive Barker:

The Forbidden is good also; this is not the complete version, though:

And a classic I forgot:
