Re: Last TV show you watched

Penny Dreadful on Showtime... I cannot get enough of this show. Probably the best production design on TV -- 'sides maybe 'Game of Thrones" but it's very, very close.

Eva Green!

Your fall should be like the fall of mountains. But I was before mountains. I was in the beginning, and shall be forever. The first and the last. The world come full circle. I am not the wheel. I am the hand that turns the wheel. I am Time, the Destroyer. I was the wind and the stars before this. Before planets. Before heaven and hell. And when all is done, I will be wind again, to blow this world as dust back into endless space. To me the coming and going of Man is as nothing.

I enjoyed Penny Dreadful S1 but it was so slow that I'm waiting for the whole season to be out before I marathon this year's run.

Sense8 has developed in to quite a good show.

Carnivŕle, for the third and, I believe, last time. Not only that, but I got my parents, my three sisters and an ex girlfriend hooked on it.

Re: Last TV show you watched

John Walsh "The Hunt". I do not fear the police. I do not fear the FBI. I do not fear the CIA, NSA, or anyone. But I fear, I fear like a tribal god, John Walsh. He gets freakin results. Also on "The Hunt" every episode ends with a coda that reads something like "A body shot execution style in the forest in the Appalachians, was found recently. Dental records and DNA testing positively identified it as the serial murderer [who the whole show was about], John Smith." So, the obvious assumption is John Walsh hunted (thus the title of the show) this criminal, found him, and delivered Biblical, Old Testament, Tarantino style justice. There's also nothing to disconfirm that John Walsh slowly tortured the killer, in order to prolong the eye for an eye justice.

That is why I fear John Walsh. He is the only reason I have not committed a criminal act. And never will.

Re: Last TV show you watched

  • The Walking Dead - just finished Season 5, superb as always.

  • Penny Dreadful - watched Season 1 and loved it.

  • I have a soft spot for the BBC1 series The Musketeers:
The Musketeers (TV Series 2014– ) - IMDb

  • Humans - just started a new series on Channel 4 (UK), excellent.

Humans - All 4

Had a clever marketing buildup before first episode:

Re: Last TV show you watched

I recently stumbled across Person of Interest. Each week a supercomputer gives a team of do-gooding vigilantes the social security number of someone who needs watching, either because they're in danger or because they're a danger to someone else. The vigilantes then have to figure out how to save the day. This usually involves punching and shooting people. The case of the week stuff can get a bit samey but there's an overreaching story-arc about other groups abusing the supercomputer's abilities that looks like it could get interesting.

Developed by Jonathan Nolan and JJ Abrams. Starring Jim Caviezel, Michael Emerson, Taraji P Henson, Amy Acker and Sarah Shahi. For some reason the UK is way behind the US on this one. We're not even halfway through season 3.

Re: Last TV show you watched

Recently finished the second series of Inside No. 9. Fantastic series of one-off dramas from some of the guys that brought us The League of Gentlemen, Funland (the series, not film, and an absolute peach, albeit little-known), Crooked House, Psychoville and the new Sherlock Holmes series.
On the subject of one-off dramas, don't know if these have been cited before, but you must check out the two series of Black Mirror by Charlie Brooker and his superb one-off zombie series Dead Set.
Prior to that the TV series of Fargo - brilliant. Billy Bob Thornton is one hit man you wouldn't cross.

Re: Last TV show you watched

I find it as inconsistent as I do all anthology shows, but the second episode of the latest series – featuring the delightful Sheridan Smith (audio companion to the Eighth Doctor) – was excellent.
